Prodigious Ponders (A Walk Through The Woods)
Lyrics
Walking through this valley
There are many sights to see
First I stop to smell the roses
Then I stumble upon a tree
The tree speaks to me and asks if I am alright
He questions me until I anger
And he steals my sense of sight
He tells me to walk down my path
Without a way to see
I understand more now
About what life really means
Walking through this valley
With no more sights to see
Just me and my prodigious ponders
To keep me company
My thoughts now wander without bounds
And the ground beneath my feet becomes thick
I can only imagine the muck and the rot
That engulfs my feet and walking stick
Horror overtakes me
I slide farther down into the ground
Nobody there to hear me
I surrender my right to sound
just before I am swallowed whole
I am lifted far above
A familiar voice reminds me
That it is time to move
The tree of life returns my sight
In exchange for my presence on Earth
My body has fed the valley of wonders
My body has returned to the Earth
The tree of life gets one last laugh
As my body decays in the mud
He says "Remember to respect the trees, good sir, for we are your walking staff"
