Caught In A War
Lyrics
I'm not as real as they come, I don't handle a gun
As a white man, I don't wanna remove somebody's son
As a black man, I don't wanna be pushed into square one
As a person, I don't wanna be labelled for impure blood
The way I was taught was not to show my dark side
But to let those know of the skin that shines white
I don't have the darkest skin, I wasn't my own kind
I had to keep my thoughts and feelings locked in my mind
That's just the way that society went
I was scared to have to handle any sort of resentment
If I told my friends about my minor heritage
It was great when I was told I'd only get acceptance
But it's...
The minor things that makes somebody feel outta place
Being told of racism makes me feel half of a disgrace
The other half makes me feel I deserve a silver plate
I'm not sure as to what god I should let handle my fate
My silence isn't cause I won't stand for either side
My silence is a ground where I stay level with black and white
I just want people to understand me
When I talk about walking around like a bag of mixed meat
My music is about my confusion like many before me
My confusion is a discussion talked about poorly
I'll fight for BLM no doubt I think it's great
But it sucks to be caught in a war between two of my own race
