I could never choose one line of this song. The whole of it is just irreplaceable. Every word is almost carefully chosen and to be honest, it doesn’t dwell in long words or long phrases. It keeps it all short and sweet. And the fact that Radiohead, a band which is known for combining electronic with every song decides to just have a guitar and go acoustic with this is one is almost… as if they are naked. It’s a song that talks about true love, about giving everything for someone, to measure it in little details and not great deeds. And also, that true love waits in haunted attics, like it is there where you can’t find it or where you would be scared to look so it could remain there untouched forever. And true love lives on lollipops and crisps – it can be happy always, even in the tough times.
True Love Waits
Lyrics
I'll drown my beliefs
To have your babies
I'll dress like your niece
And wash your swollen feet
Just don't leave
Don't leave
I'm not living
I'm just killing time
Your tiny hands
Your crazy kitten smile
Just don't leave
Don't leave
And true love waits
In haunted attics
And true love lives
On lollipops and crisps
Just don't leave
Don't leave
