HEARTBREAK (No Justice, No Peace)
Lyrics
Yo what is it Scru Face Jean say?
Gotta spit it slow so they can hear it fast (Gotta make sure they hear this one!)
Listen
Nowadays I’m feelin’ sad because there’s so much change we gotta make
But now, guess that I’m just glad that we’ll cooperate
I’m tired of seein’ brothers and sisters from all around
Gettin’ gunned down just because their skin is brown
I said I’m tired, of all this social injustice
Tell me how you justify it when somebody’s outnumbered
And held down by their neck when they say they can’t breathe
You’re cutting lives short with a force you can’t see
We cry out for our mothers and you just won’t fuckin’ listen
This illustrates a bigger problem and we gotta fix it
A hatred of color from people claimin’ to be Christians
If you really followed God, you wouldn’t hate his creations
I’m not tryna sound hateful, I just want you to see
That contradicting what you preach is simply hypocrisy
And I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared at some points
For my people of color, because you’ve taken their voice
I know my skin prevents me from fully knowin’ your struggle
But I’m marchin’ in the streets, taking part in the hustle
I’m right beside you protestin’, fighting for change
Imma make them understand so let me set up the stage, okay
Put yourself in the shoes, a black parent with their newborn
Drivin’ home from the hospital, it’s a new morn
And suddenly, lights behind you start to flash
And your heart falls fast, but you ain’t doin’ nothin’ bad
You just know that this ain’t no coincidence
He pulled you over for no reason ‘cuz of your pigment
And now you gotta wonder if you’ll make it out alive
He’s angry at your skin tone, but that ain’t a crime
He’s askin’ for your wallet for some identification
But the second you go to move he’s got his iron set and aimin’
A chill runs down your spine as you freeze in your tracks
He senses hesitation, he pulls the trigger and blasts (Pow!)
Now your child grows up without you, it hurts in their soul
And they try to move on to have a somewhat stable home
But now it’s just too late, the system feeds off of hate
Because you’re trapped inside a system that makes you poor for your race
In terms of all the struggle, that’s the tip of the iceberg
I know I’ll never understand, but I’m gonna fight for
Justice and equality, I’m marching by your side
Your heartbreak and your struggle will not go unrecognized
We’re all in this together
I know it’s fucking terrifying at times
But I’ve got your back
We’re all in this together
Black lives matter, and we stand as one
They cannot silence us
They can scare the weak, but they cannot silence the strong
Yo what is it Scru Face Jean say?
