Redbud Tree?
After going nuts about the meaning of this song, I finally think I have it figured out. Legend has it that Judas Iscariot hung himself from a redbud tree after he caused Jesus to be caught and killed. Legend says that the blossoms used to be white, but turned red after he Judas hung himself.
