The One That Got Away?
This song is a stinger. I feel sorry for Katy Perry. She loved this person, and wished that someday they would cross each others paths once again. She sadly gets the burn that he removed his tattoo, symbolizing he's moved on and over her, and that really broke her heart.
It's funny that they always tell Adele has a broken heart because all her songs talk about heartbreak, utter and pure. That's true but Katy Perry is building a collection too. Both, with Thinking of You and this song, she sang both in acoustic mode in concerts and it's so much better. When you listen to her in both songs, the pop part with silly tunes is gone. It's just her and a guitar and when she sings every line, you can feel her heart breaking all over again. So, Katy Perry might have sold out to crappy pop but when she does these things, she is truly great. The song pretty much talks for itself, but it's about losing the love of your life and realizing it too late, when the other person has moved on and you can only look now. Feel sorry, of course, but there's nothing else left to do. Perhaps one of the worst things is to love someone who used to love you.
