The singer has been hit by a terrible grief..A sick child maybe?His son.The first verse he is puzzled and trying to be philosophical in finding an answer to this grief in his own head.Going into the second verse..shows that he is spiritual and thinks this grief is an act of god but he still doesn't understand why him and his family.Hes looking for an answer though.In the third verse he is bitter and maybe feeling sorry for himself.Having gotten no answers to his grief he thinks god is punishing him.In the last verse he is coming to terms with his grief and anger turns to sorrow as he pleads for the answers to his questions that he knows are there...but may never get.
