Your Wonderful Parade Lyrics

Your wonderful parade

Moving thru the towns that rise and then they fade

Over streets that pass the houses where you've stayed

Your wonderful parade

Your daily masquerade

Paper masks behind this face that you have made

Crumble down upon foundation that you've laid

Your daily masquerade

(*) Stand in line try to climb

Meet your wife at cocktail time

Surely you should try and choose a better way to fall

Your marvelous charade

Never could be worth the prices that you've paid

Blindness is a part of every game you've played

Your marvelous charade

Repeat (*)

Your daily masquerade

Your wonderful parade

What is the Meaning of Your Wonderful Parade?

I read somewhere that these lyrics depict someone leading a double life such as in an affair. Life is a circus and the seedier side of life performs at the dark end of the big top. Wearing paper masks is one mask worn for the family man/woman and the other for the person who they are in an affair with. 'Surely you could try and choose a better way to fall" is if you're going to destroy your life, there are other means to do this. This is not my interpretation, but merely what I read some years ago.
