The Music in Me
Lyrics
Took the time that I needed they pleaded with me
But I had to look inside and find a better reason to be
I'm getting used to all these ups and downs fake it till you make it
So I put this armor on and I'm attacking like a sadist
They don't know the hunger the sandwich in the sky
That if you reach and you could eat then your songs will never die
That pomp and circumstance that make an artist feel like he could fly
When he's reaching for the stars they wanna talk they wonder why
It's the beat the feeling of that I have no doubt
It's the struggle breath you take when these bars fighting to get out
It's the dance you do when verses have been murdered
Now they listen to your vision and the dream becomes determined yeah
I've been fighting for a moment a second of your time
And if you let me be the reason I think I could blow your mind
When I put my pen to pad I'll take minutes if your time
And I pray that what I say make 3D pictures for the blind
I know they said we're crazy they said rappers have no money
But I love to rap regardless cuz they cannot take it from me
Everybody's got a calling I just picked up the phone
And I said who's gon' walk this path with me but I'm standing alone
And that's the real man you have to take it
And I can't let this fire die man I just have to save it
It often feels like fly or die like I was made to make it
I found this light and Alpha Centauri is what I named it
It's the music in me
It's the things that I see
It's that if you can't express yourself then who would you be
They said to find a gift and use it
I wrote this song to prove it
It's always been the music
It's always been the music
Started with a broken set of headphones on the wall
And I wrote so many lines that I wish I still had em all
Surviving class and rapping nights
So if I fall I can parachute with papers hold flight
Imagine my fear to make these introductions
I tried to rap for my peers and they said man you something
They asked me why am I here you should be close to busting
But tell me what's a career when you ain't making nothing nothing
Fast forward four years and I still feel like I'm growing
But I think that it's my time to grab the mic and hold the moment
In that silence I'll convince them believers to be
And if you're there then I'm the beacon that you're eager to see
So let me shine but let me take you with me
And given time i got a couple bricks but you and I can build the city
And we'll be welcomed like kings everywhere that we roam
And when you look at where we been they'll be waving from home
I took the path less travelled and the journey isn't over
I'm tryna take a flame and turn it into supernova
My flow became distilled so I don't rap when I'm not sober
I just let the music take over
It's the music in me
It's the things that I see
It's that if you can't express yourself then who would you be
They said to find a gift and use it
I wrote this song to prove it
It's always been the music
