The lyrics of Yellow River are short and simple yet they convey what must be the thoughts and emotions of every soldier that is returning home after fighting in a war. Upon release, the soldier celebrates and thinks about his home and what he had left behind wondering if it will still be the same. His only thought is to return home and resume life as it had been where he can sleep under the moon, feel the cool nights and find a girl he once knew in his hometown of Yellow River. The ravages of war follow him as cannon fire lingers in his mind but this will soon be replaced by the security of the familiar surroundings of home.
