I believe this song is about a father killing his child, purely because he knows how cruel the world is. Chances are, he would've committed suicide after the murder so he could free himself also.

It's about a couple.. She said : "First of all, I have a really vivid imagination. You know that these things may be happening to someone right now. It's kind of a terrifying thought. I just had to get that thought out of my head – and that's why I wrote this song. But the two characters are actually just made up in my head. I've written many songs about them – maybe I'll make a book with them.
it is a powerful song but it does not describe everything. your child does not have to live the same life as yours. and I believe we can always change things around. anyway I hope you are okay <3
