Pursuit Lyrics

My dad told me that my life was a miracle
After that I had friends that said I'm too spiritual
I was looking for you, wondering if you were real
Watching debates on YouTube searching for evidence
My brokenness and pain in prayer felt to irrelevant
Tried to do right the thing, most of the time I failed at it
Wanted be closer to you, didn't wanna live a lie
Didn't recognize, you were chasing me the whole time, dang
I can never forget my 2nd birth
11th grade Mrs. Woods room my second church
After school she would share wisdom of lessons learn
And Holy Spirit convicting till my chess would burn
8th grade after school we would talk on the porch for hours
Looking at the sky at night, just starring at stars
Dad would come to the door and ask was I okay
I replied I'm good but wasn't cause you felt so far
My curiosity led me to ask question that religion said boy don't worry bout it cause life's a blessing
I couldn't help but think if you love me so much, allowed your son to get crushed
Then why can't I have a touch
I want to believe I need need a reason
I love reflecting on those early seasons
Now that I look back I see pursuit of me
I thought I was after you but you was just after me yeah

And now I call you Father
And now I call you friend
You said it's you and me forever
And now I look back and see your pursuit of me
I thought I was after you but you was just after me yeah

Fast forward
Depression came, at was Valencia financial aid
I started hating church, it was just the worse, demons constantly feeding all on my brain
Pornography was a hobby, guilt and shame in my lobby, prayer life full of sorries
Needed more than Sunday service
Jesus what am I to do
He told me to create what I'm hungry for
Abbas room
So Every Wednesday night Valerie n key came over, we just wanted God's presence
We called you Abba Father and sung to you for hours till we were left on the floor with tears
We seen miracles, friends started bringing friends, surgery's were being canceled
I started to preach, the den of my momma house, cars parked all down my street
It got hot my daddy bought a fan, cause 40 high school and college came and filled his den
Those were amazing days, you touched so many lives, I was so amazed
You showed me that you're more than a religious phase, a love that's everlasting and plus it never fades
And All of that not to build a church from home
But to show me that I'm really never alone
My curiosity led me to ask questions cause I seen you healing sickness, suicide and depression
In my den, you gave a bunch of friends
That stuck with me thick and thin, but what was really the win
Was it the souls, was it the friends
Was it success, came to an end
But now I look but I see your pursuit of me
I thought I was after you but you was just after me yeah

And now I call you Father
And now I call you friend
You said it's you and me forever
And now I look back and see your pursuit of me
I thought I was after you but you was just after me yeah

And now I call you Father
And now I call you friend
You said it's you and me forever
And now I look back and see your pursuit of me
I thought I was after you but you was just after me yeah
