In my opinion, Shiver is about the anxiety you feel with the people you love. You care about them deeply, but you do not always know the right thing to say. You may worry about things like will they be around forever? will they always care for you? will you fall out? When Imbruglia sings "I shiver" I interpret that as the feeling of anxiety. She sings "In a rush never trust you''ll be there", I believe she is saying she does not know for definite that the person in question, or people in general, will always love her or be around for her. I relate to this song a lot because I often feel anxious when I am around my friends or even in a relationship. I am sure it is natural, but I often wonder does this person actually like me. The video is an amazing mini action movie filmed in Kyiv which is just fascinating to me. The bleak nature really underpins the tone of the song.
