Burned at Both Ends
Lyrics
There's nothing left now that doesn't come from suffering
Victims of time, we're defined by our history
Forever lost, and now I don't know who the fuck I have become
Where has my life gone?
I'm holding on to a life I'll never get back
It's too hard to let go
I'm on right train but the wrong tracks
Trying not to derail
Nothing is like it was before
I know not who I am anymore
Chasing something that's behind me
When will I be set free?
Broken promises left to mend
Burning the candle at both ends
No light to find my way back home
But I don't know where home is anymore
The sinking ship has washed ashore
So what is left of this life that's in front of me?
Is there a future when you only see in memories?
When every loss, every beauty just remind you of the past,
How can you just let go?
This misery has got to end
What's done is done
The past is a strange place
Look at me now, a fool with everything, but yet he's still so hollow
Look at us now, no lights just struggling to find our way back home

What is the Meaning of Burned at Both Ends
?
They may have a lot of material objects or even possibly love, but they still feel empty. They want to find that place where they're comfortable and feel good.
Past promises have been broken and they want them to be mended, Burning the candle at both ends is an idiom which means to exhaust yourself. The 'candle'(themself) has seemed to 'burn out' so they can no longer find their way home or to where they feel safe and comfortable, but they don't even remeber where that is anymore due to the extreme amount of changes. They've finally gotten to the point where they realize what's going on.
They've been attempting to regain their past or have been living in their past for so long that they're not aware of the life in front of them and what's going on in it. Everything that happens to the person, it brings back old memories that are hard to forget, regardless of how hard they want them to go away or come to terms with them.
Things have changed to the point where said person no longer recognizes who they've become. They're so stuck on getting their past back that it's trapped them.
The person is desperately wanting their old life back, but that's not able to happen most likely due to major changes that have been made.
With this line, it seems to mean that regardless of how much you change, people will always remember your past and define you by the bad things you've done
