Good Goodbye Lyrics

Old man, let me wipe your eyes
I've never seen you cry

Old friend, in our own sweet time
We'll say a good goodbye
All my life I know by now

All these memories, too much to lose
No one ever leaves you
I don't need faith, I don't need truth
No one ever leaves you

You'd say this is all there is
And every time you'd blink
You'd miss another piece of this wondrous world
All I'd ask is why you'd leave so soon
Everybody seems to
I don't need faith I just want you
No one ever leaves you

Everybody raise a glass heres to a good goodbye
Everybody raise a glass heres to a good goodbye
Everybody raise a glass heres to a good goodbye
Oh, everybody raise a glass, oh

All these memories too much to lose
No one ever leaves you
I don't need faith I don't need truth
No one ever leaves you
I don't need faith I just want proof

What is the Meaning of Good Goodbye?

Just my thoughts.. To me it looks like in the first two stanzas her dad possibly or some father figure is ill and doesn't have long. Also within the second and third stanza she's saying that she's known all her life that eventually this moment would come. By the fourth stanza, this father figure has died and she's left wondering what most wonder which is why so soon? The part about not needing faith and truth to me is her saying she doesn't want to hear that God has him now and that his pain is over because he's in a better place. She just wants him back. But she does understand that no one ever leaves you because there were too many memories for to lose them.
