Angels Lyrics

I know Momma's proud of me
She looks down I'm chasing my dreams
I wish she was here to see
All these opportunities
Brother says "We Never Walk Alone"
We can't hold our halos on our own
One door closes, another one opens
Opens up
Let's take it back to March 3rd of year 2008
My school was cake, drummed in a band
Had lots of friends, and all of my grades were straight
Mom hospitalized, not feeling too great
Went in for tests, but now she rested there for three-four days
My pop sent me a text saying I should come straight home
And I got nervous, he emphasized "DO IT ALONE"
"Cancel your band practice, I'll meet you guys around five"
Anxiously waited with my brothers, stress ate us alive
Afraid he'd say that Mom had cancer, man I tried not to cry
To our surprise we got informed that she had already died
Blew out my birthday candles that next morning, still mourning
I closed my eyes and made a wish that she'd come 'round the corner
She used to come to every show supporting me to the fullest
And told me constantly that God had plans for me and my music
That was obvious, her words to me were not that foolish
I just regret the fact it took me so damn long to pursue it
I know Momma's proud of me
She looks down I'm chasing my dreams
I wish she was here to see
All these opportunities
Brother says "We Never Walk Alone"
We can't hold our halos on our own
One door closes, another one opens
Opens up
Let's take it back to May 5th of 2017
My bro was only 17 when Mom passed
And over the years he never seemed to
Find the right path or gain some type of traction
Slipping right through the cracks of life, but he had a passion for
Making others smile to hide the pain of his own
He'd give the shirt right off his back when it was rainy and cold
He paved a road of good intentions but it's covered in blow
Pain killers, pain, liquor and guilt; he walked it alone
I said the word "pain" three times in this verse 'cause it hurts
I see his face in the crowd of my concerts then I burst into tears
When he was here he had my back when I struggled
He's the one that picked me up and said "get back to the hustle"
I can't deny it ever happened, I saw it myself
I saw the same demons in him, that I see in myself
A week before he died he said get back to the rapping
Now my angels riding with me, guiding me through the traffic
I know Momma's proud of me
She looks down I'm chasing my dreams
I wish she was here to see
All these opportunities
Brother says "We Never Walk Alone"
We can't hold our halos on our own
One door closes, another one opens
