"You're still you," were the words spoken to Superman Star Chris Reeve by his wife, Dana, after the crippling accident that left him in a wheelchair for life. Dana Reeve attended her husband with tender love until his death. This song, "You're Still You" always reminds me of that couple, and that though a person's body and circumstances may change desperately, they are, inside, still the best of who they were before. Chris was a major "man for all seasons", talented in a dozen ways that others could barely duplicate. Chris refused to give up hope that he could be healed, and if he could not, he would do all in his power to further medical research into healing spinal cord injuries. Among all his other glories, he gave his all to that goal as well.
You're Still You
Lyrics
Through the darkness i can see your light
And you will always shine
And I can feel your heart in mine
Your face I've memorized i idolize just you
I look up to everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
I've loved you for so long
And after all that's said and done
You're still you after all
You're still you you walk past me
I can feel your pain time changes everything
One truth always stays the same
You're still you after all
You're still you
I look up to everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
And I believe in you
Although you never asked me to
I will remember you
And what life put you through
And in this cruel and lonely world
I've found one love
You're still you after all
You're still you
