Love is never free. The song tells us love always cost us in some sort of ways. If you love someone, you already lose something. It's not a physical thing like money or gifts to buy his or her love. What you "spend" is the time thinking about your love, the feelings burning inside you, the actions you do so that the person understands your love etc. Love costs us more than we think. When we love we're ready to make a mess out of the whole world and leave piles of debris! In the end a person might not end up happily ever after with his or her love, but it's something that must be done. It's definitely worth it to "lose" something! If you don't you will never understand love!
