Everybody knows Michael Jackson was the lead singer for The Jackson 5. They first were formed in 1964 under the name the Jackson Brothers before Michael and Marlon had joined. They started as the Jackson 5 in 1967 with Steeltown Records before joining Motown. They notched 17 top forty singles on the Hot 100 and stayed active from 1964 to 1990. During the early 1970s they were considered "the greatest phenomenon in pop music". They are famed for an extensive repertoire of soul, R&B, funk, and later disco. Their great swansong was the Victory Tour in 1984.
