Who is Dream Theater?

Dream Theater is an American progressive metal band formed in 1985 in Boston, Massachusetts. The group is now based in Long Island, New York. The members are noted for their technical proficiency, with all members winning multiple awards and frequently appearing in 'best player' lists by music magazines and websites such as MusicRadar. Dream Theater's current line-up features original members John Petrucci (guitar) and John Myung (bass) in addition to James LaBrie (vocals), Jordan Rudess (keyboards) and Mike Mangini (drums). Original drummer Mike Portnoy left the band in 2010, amid much controversy, and was replaced by Mangini in 2011. The band has released 13 studio albums and has sold more than 12 million albums worldwide.
