Who is Carpenters?
The Carpenters were a brother and sister duo that began singing in the late 1960s. After twice failing to form a trio, Karen and John opted for a duo and submitted a demo that got them signed with A&M Records in 1969, with their first album dropping that same year. However, their second album gained the dup recognition with their first hit. Over the next five years, the Carpenters won two Grammy Awards and had numerous hit singles. By the late 1970s, the group’s popularity waned, and their last album was released in 1981. Karen died from cardiac arrest in 1983.
