After taking a break from the music scene, Iggy Azalea released her single named “Started.” A song that serves as an unapologetic intro for her sophomore album “In My Defense.”
While premiering the song during the music video for “Sally Walker,” Iggy is letting everyone know that she’s proud of what she achieved so far and that she didn’t back down from any challenge that got between her and her dreams. As we all know by now, the singer comes from a very humble background in Australia. Eventually, she moved to America to pursue a music career. Now that she achieved fame, she feels like she’s entitled to celebrate the success that she earned so hard.
Started From the Bottom
“Started” begins with the Chorus where Iggy tells us just that her success transformed her life radically. She now enjoys a fantastic financial situation without feeling sorry for it.
I started from the bottom and now I’m rich
Started by Iggy Azalea
I got in my bag and I ain’t looked back since
In the first verse, the singer is taking a jab at the people who didn’t believe in her. Not only did she manage to prove them wrong, but she also managed to become a better person than them. From what we can tell, Iggy feels extremely comfortable when it comes to her looks. She suspects that most people hating on her only do it because deep down they really feel miserable for not managing to pursue their own goals.
Love Me or Hate Me
In the second Verse, the singer questions her haters again while asking: Do you hate that you love me, or do you love that you hate me?
Meaning that she thinks the people questioning her either secretly want to be in her position or that their life is so empty that they need someone to hate just to feel something. Either way, she doesn’t care about them as long as they take the time to check out her music, and she’s getting paid for it.
The bottom line, the singer managed to gather so much money in her bank account that she doesn’t need to make music anymore since she’s able to spend $80K on a watch and live in a multi-million dollar mansion.
Is this true? Only time will tell. Until then check out Iggy’s song lyrics for “Started” below.
