Who is The Tubes?
The Tubes are a collaboration of two bands from Phoenix combining for success. For their first fifteen years or so their live performances combined wild satires of media, consumerism and politics. In some of their acts they wore leotards and painted on nipples. They are better known for their single "She's a Beauty" from 1983. This was frequently-played in the early days of MTV music videos. Fans will remember them singing a rock portion of the cross-genre song "Dancin'" from the 1980 film Xanadu and of course "White Punks on Dope".
