Who is Simply Red?
The British pop and soul band Simply Red came together in 1985 in Manchester, England, and reached widespread success before breaking up in 2010, with most of the original members already long gone. The group came back together in 2015 and had all together sold more than 50 million albums. Simply Red’s style is a mix of Rock, Jazz, Soul, and Reggae influences. The band’s debut album, Picture Book (1985), included their most successful single ever, “Holding Back the Years.” In total, the group has released 11 studio albums, with the most recent being 2015’s Big Love.
