Who is Mase?
Mase is an American rapper and songwriter and the stage name of Mason Durell Betha, who was born on August 27, 1977 in Jacksonville, Florida. His name is often stylized as Ma$e. As an artist with Sean Combs' Bad Boy Records, Mase has released three studio albums. His debut release, Harlem World (1997), went multi-platinum and was Grammy-nominated for Best Rap Album. That success was followed by Double Up in 1999 and Welcome Back in 2004. Between the two records, Mase announced he was retiring to become a Chistian minister but eventually returned to music. Both of those later albums would go gold in terms of sales.
